Mike at HMD (Heavy Metal Designz) in Tucson has agreed to take on building a custom XC for me. This has been two months in the making. We are doing a major makeover of the bike to include:

HMD Scorpion tail including stretched bags, fender and side covers, speaker lids
HMD front fender (steel)
HMD Gorilla bars
HMD air ride
HMD skid plate
HMD shortened kickstand
HMD bag brackets
HMD Hotrod exhaust
HMD coffin covers
HMD chin fairing screen inserts
Rockford Fosgate kickass system with two (2) 150 watt amps, (2) 6x5" speakers in fairing, (2) 6x9" speaker lids
Billet for Baggers SAW floorboards
Eurocomponents Rex mirrors
Custom Corbin Gunfighter seat
23" SMT front wheel
Painted rear wheel
NESS 10 degree rake kit
NESS RAD III handlebar controls
NESS engine covers
NESS grips
NESS pegs
NESS MC cover
Guard Dog keyless security
Lloydz air filter, adjustable timing gear & cams
Power Commander V
Tons of Witchdoctor colored bolts, caps
Witchdoctor clutch cover & dipstick
Custom Dynamics Radius Flush-mount Quad LED Plate Frame
Pin light blinkers front and rear

Let's just say there won't be any chrome on the bike. The bike will be painted a custom color (super secret) and tons of powder coating done. Hoping to get bike done before Thanksgiving but not pressuring Mike. He has an amazing attention to detail which is what drew me to see if he'd take on this build. This size build takes time and I'm willing to wait. Please friend Mike on his FB page at HMD520 to see progress pics.

Starting to get the motor back together after cams, timing gear and powder coat. Got paint ordered yesterday, Ness parts finally shipped complete and one accessory from Kewlmetal received. Mike hopes to start painting by weeks end. He figures about two weeks total for paint. In the mean time he plans to get the rear wheel off, get it painted along with the swing arm and then get started on the air ride. Lots in the mix.3667936680

Mike says assembly starts Monday. He also told me pics will be limited because of some surprises he has in mind that I won't get to see until the unveil. He picked the right season with the Christmas spirit in full flow. I will continue to post what he sends and will also post pics of the final build. I'm looking for a photographer to shoot outdoor pics to highlight the color of the paint and then I'm also looking for a photographer here in the Vegas area with a model for additional pics. I feel like a kid waiting for Christmas :)

So I just booked my ticket to fly back to Tucson to get the bike. Official day is 30 Dec. There was a chance Mike would finish this week but I'm flying back to Michigan for Christmas Thursday and just didn't want to rush things. I'll fly back to Vegas the morning of the 30th then grab a flight to Tucson that afternoon. I was hoping before Christmas but I'm good with giving Mike the additional time to make it perfect, and I know it will be. I'll continue to post what pics Mike sends and then once I see the bike complete stand by for TONS of pics.

Which cams? Thats pretty good numbers if its the lloydz drop ins, pretty normal. What did they end up with for advance with the timing wheel? I dont have cams and run mine at 8 and dynod at 87 and 104.

Lloydz cams. +4 degree on the timing. Tried putting more timing but they said it started pinging so they backed it off.

02-07-2014, 04:18 AM
I wondered about that with the cams and if you have a pcv then if there is timing added with that also. When i had mine dynod it had the vfcIII on it and we couldnt lean it out enough so the dyno guy said i was leaving hp because of it. So I got rid of it and now have the pcv w/at.
